About Laura Kim Dooley, Founder, Seoul Solutions
In the beginning…
March 19, 1972, a stranger found a baby girl on the side of a dirt road… in a cardboard box used to transport rice…in Seoul, South Korea. That little girl’s fateful trip to the local police station was only the first in a long parade of stops that included two orphanages, a foster care facility, an adoptive family, and more than a dozen changes of address until she finally made her way HOME.
That little girl was me, Laura Kim Dooley: lifetime learner, student of human behavior, searcher of self, and grown woman who desperately attempts each and every day to find more meaning in this incredible life than the day before.
What qualifies me to be a Mindset Coach?
Experiences. Practice. Love of growth. I began life with no name, no birth date, and no story of origin. What better blank slate to write one’s own narrative?
So far I’ve managed to: survive my complex childhood, complete undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate work, become a print journalist, (You remember print…the typeset inked morning paper, right? That was my medium.) spend 23 years as an English teacher in public school grades 7-12, become a certified Dive Master, then PADI dive instructor, and finally a certified technical diver, student of Taekwondo (blew my back out training for advanced level red belt), world traveler, poet, self-proclaimed chef, CERTIFIED MINDSET COACH, entrepreneur, caretaker to my aging mom, and most importantly, wife (twice). If you don’t believe that all this involved some heavy work on mindset…then bless you…you’re a more confident person than I’ll ever be. For me, it was a struggle.
This struggle included significant bouts of depression and self-doubt, daily contemplation that sometimes included thoughts of, “what’s it all about and is it really worth it?” These bouts of darkness culminated in a moment of rebirth that occurred under the pressure of a cold steel revolver muzzle pressed under my chin held there by a young girl who was so desperately searching for a sense of self that she was willing to terminate the body because the soul was so lost. But that was not the way out. The way out…out of the darkness, out of the doubt, out of the box in which I had been keeping myself imprisoned, wasn’t at the invitation of a bullet.
Ah, yes. I know about struggle. I’ve lived it. And the struggle is what convinces me that I can help others find the strength within themselves to make their lives more positive, productive and… clearer, than they ever realized.
Give me an hour…and I guarantee, you will change your own life!
So, why should you seek me out over other coaches?
Only you can answer that. I’m simply stating that if my sincere offer to help illuminate the path in your life sits honestly with you, then reach out to me. Your initial call or visit is always free (up to one hour).
